Religion, Race, and Reconciliation

December 11, 2015 @ 03:49 pm by Jacqui Lewis

The massacres, the violence, and the anti-Muslim rhetoric leaves us breathless. Terrorism is all around us--perpetrated on Charleston, Planned Parenthood, San Bernardino and in movie theatres and universities. Where must we go from here?

Joining me are Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, and Carmen Perez from Justice League, NYC; Stosh Cotler, the Chief Executive Director of Bend the Arc; and The Rev. Dr. Serene Jones, President of Union Theological Seminary.

They are activists in the Black Lives Matter Movement and have been calling in this season for justice for Eric Garner, choked to death by a police officer Daniel Pantaleo, one year ago.

October 29, 2015 @ 05:30 pm by Jacqui Lewis

There is something about characters with super powers that intrigues us, and right now American film, television, and theater are having a love affair with Superman and Supergirl, The Dark Knight and Spiderman, The Flash and the X-Men.

That's why the next episode of Just Faith is all about superheroes. With special guests John Wesley Shipp; The Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, III; and Dr. Dave Lewis; we're going to explore this superhero phenomenon, the masks we wear and what it all has to do with faith.

Just Faith talks about OWN's "Belief"

October 15, 2015 @ 07:47 pm by Jacqui Lewis

"Love, compassion and kindness"...this is something to believe in. So says Reshma Thakkar, and I am inclined to agree. No matter how we name God or if we name God at all, we can believe in the power of love to connect us, to heal us, to create one human family.

This is what we discussed on Just Faith this week, as we previewed Oprah Network Television's new series, "Belief." Joining Just Faith for conversation were ‪"Belief‬" with executive producer David Shadrack Smith; Reshma, a young Hindu woman in the series; and the president of Auburn Theological Seminary, Katharine Henderson.
