Special Music | Lighting the Candle of Joy
Broadway’s Branch Woodman and Lincoln Center alum Tami Petty, sing “When You Believe” (The Prince of Egypt, music by Stephen Schwartz) to a dance by Mark Dendy. Dendy has choreographed for Lincoln Center and Broadway. The Middle Church Choir will offer classical Christmas music. The 11:45 AM worship will be livestreamed on middlechurch.org.

A Brassy, Classy Christmas Eve

The Middle Church Choir sings music from The Ballad of the Brown King with text by Langston Hughes and music by Margaret Bonds for this classical and jazz Christmas Eve worship that ends in candlelight. The Manhattan Brass offers a prelude at 6:45 PM with arrangements by Zack Smith. Jacqui Lewis will share a homily. This worship will be livestreamed on middlechurch.org.

Sing Joy! A Gospel Christmas Eve

Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir | Jacqui Lewis, homily
Featuring a mixture of gospel, blues, and spirituals including “Mary, Did You Know?” “Rise Up, Shepherd,” and “Go Tell It,” the evening ends in “Silent Night” by candlelight. The Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir has sung at Carnegie Hall and won Best Float Performance in the NYC Pride March. Director John Del Cueto composes gospel music with a new world flavor. Award-winning composer and pianist Dionne McClain-Freeney accompanies the choir and directs the band. Jacqui Lewis will share the homily. This worship will be livestreamed at middlechurch.org.
