Our rebooted and revived Sunday 6:00 PM worship celebration is extra-special in this holiday season.
December 1 We commemorate World AIDS Day with special music and a sermon with Jacqui Lewis and Senior Minister Emeritus Gordon Dragt. Immediately following, we will screen All the Way through Evening, a documentary about Mimi Stern-Wolfe who organized her first AIDS concert in 1990 at Middle Collegiate Church after her friend died of AIDS. Almost every year since then, she has held a concert presenting the compositions of friends who succumbed to the virus.
December 8 Our Second Sunday Jazz series continues with Marty Ehrlich. Tricia Sheffield will preach a sermon called “What Is This Wonder All Around Us?” reflecting on the experience of the shepherds on that first Christmas night.
December 15 Singer Nita Whitaker will join us for A Whitney Houston Christmas. Star Search–champion Ms. Whitaker has a voice that breaks your heart wide open, so the true seeds of these holy-days can take hold. Take a break from the busy and come take a cool drink of water as you hear songs from The Preacher’s Wife and the Whitney Houston catalog. Jacqui Lewis will preach on “Magnificent Mercy.”
December 22 The Middle Church Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir presents selections from their Christmas Eve concert. This will be a space where you can rock to gospel music, and have a light repast after worship. Come and bring a friend.
December 29 Tituss Burgess and Cassondra Kellam lead this gospel worship celebration as we sing out the old year and reflect with Chad Tanaka Pack on “Where Are You Going?”
