Hoodies and Skittles for Justice this Sunday

March 29, 2012

As more and more details come to light about who George Zimmerman is and who Trayvon Martin was, to date there has still been no arrest in this case. As for Middle Church and our ongoing work to participate in a more just and more racially healed society, this Sunday after worship in the sanctuary we will have a congregational conversation: Race, Reconciliation and the Reign of God. This will be a teach-in about how we can all work for racial reconciliation led by Jacqui Lewis and John Janka immediately after the benediction. We will begin in the sanctuary and continue our conversation over brunch in the social hall. Wear your hoodie again on Sunday, if you can, and along with your offering, bring a package of Skittles. Middle will mail them to the Sanford Police Department on Monday.

This Sunday Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. For a full listing of our Holy Week and Easter celebrations click here. Please note, if you live stream our services, this week only on Sunday, April 1 we will be live streaming our 6 pm worship celebration and not the 11:15 am worship celebration. We hope you can join us for the 6 pm live stream on April 1. For Easter, April 8, we will go back to streaming at 11:15 am. Thank you.
