Organizing for the Black Lives Matter movement

September 6, 2016

Middle Church is deeply invested in racial justice. In addition to our national conference that offers tools to end racism, we have a monthly small group called Erasing Racism where we discuss race and staff our ongoing partnerships with organizations throughout the city and the country to organize for racial justice.

On Thursday, September 15 at 6:30p, our award-winning Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir and The Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis will join All Souls Church, New York City and honor the 3 original founders of the BLM movement Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, & Opal Tometi. We hope you can be there!

On Sunday, September 25, we will gather our race task force in a mini retreat to develop strategies and goals for the upcoming year.

Review and learn about the six demands in the Black Lives Matter movement, which are as follows:

- End the War on Black People
- Reparations
- Invest-Divest
- Economic Justice
- Community Control
- Political Power
