Unveiling of Portrait

January 21, 2016

In the historic Collegiate Churches of New York, when a Collegiate senior minister has served for 10 years, his or her portrait is painted and displayed with the other senior ministers. For the first time since the founding of the Collegiate Churches of New York in 1628, a Black woman’s image, The Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, will be added to a wall of White men. The portrait was painted by Middle member, Joachim Marx, and will be inveiled during the morning celebration on Sunday, January 25 (update: see video here).

Don't miss this historic Sunday morning celebration, with guest preaching from The Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, who was named by Newsweek magazine as one of the "12 most effective preachers” in the English-speaking world in 1996. Music from both the Middle Church Choir and an ensemble of the Middle Church Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir will stir our souls.
