Being Groups
Being Groups are specifically designed to connect Middle members in order to deepen relationships and grow in faith. Each group is led by a clergy or staff member and lay leadership. Although some Being Groups have a specific focus/affinity and a name that reflects that focus (for example, arts, prayer, or leadership), others provide an intentional space for connecting; these groups are called, simply, Being Groups.
Artist Leadership Lab
Artists have the capacity to change the world. Your leadership both at Middle Church and out in the world is so important. In this creative space we will think and act on art, leadership, and faith. We want to connect you with fellow artists and deepen your creative relationships so that we can change the world.
Being
At Middle Church, being is doing and in this group we have intentionally crafted space for interesting combinations of members of our faith community to get together and get known. Participants will share their stories in a focused and intentional way that deepens their connection with others and grows their faith.
Creative Writing
Participants meet weekly, or as they are able, in a supportive, creative, and fun environment where ideas move from head to paper. They build connections as they work to express the writer that lives in all of us.
Finding Our Story in Our Memories
Our memories are a gift to us. They give us messages and lessons that can shape and guide us on our journey. This group will share together in a structured story time intended to empower them for the days and years to come. It may be that we understand who we and others in our lives are in a new and fresh way.
Healing Arts Circle
Many healing practitioners believe those who come to them have the medicine they seek already inside themselves. Our healing circles invite you to tap into your own medicine in creative and transforming ways. Working on your own healing will also bring healing to others. 1st Wednesdays: Finding the God/Goddess Within - Through journaling, movement, collage, masks, and wish boards, we will discover our light within which will enable us to grow in self-love, trust, and forgiveness. 2nd and 4th Wednesdays: Creating Healing Tools for Meditation and Prayer - In this class, we will create the following tools: rattles, candles, mandalas, incense burners, prayer shawls, and meditation bracelets. 3rd Wednesdays: Healing Circles - Through ritualistic methods, such as saging, candle lighting, light drumming, and meditation, we will create a sacred circle where members can share freely and heal.
Leadership Lab 2.0
We have reaped such a rich harvest from putting Middle young adults together to discuss leadership and faith. What would it look like to offer this same dynamic space and conversation to those age 40 and over? We think it could be hot! If you agree, plan to bring your leadership ability and faith to the next level and join us.
Mothers & Spirituality
This group gathers to deepen connection and grow spiritually by focusing on the parenting journey and its intersection with faith. How has motherhood deepened our faith? How has it challenged it? Spend one hour a month with other mothers sharing your story, deepening connections and growing in faith.
Praying Dangerously
What does it mean to pray dangerously? This group will discuss ideas from the book Praying Dangerously: Radical Reliance on God and gain encouragement, guidance, and wise advice around their prayer life.
Purposeful Living
This is a personal renewal process designed to allow you to discern God's leading and to help you cooperate with the Holy Spirit in discovering and living out your God-given identity. It is designed for everyone seeking to gain clarity about how God intends for you to join Him/Her in ministry.
Senior Meet-Up Group
Join us for art activities, coffee and conversation, neighborhood trips and movies.
