Advent Bible Study: Preparing the Way through Holy Waiting
Tuesdays | 7:00 - 8:30 PM ET
December 1, 8, 15, 22
Advent is known as a time of waiting for something beautiful, glorious, and totally unfamiliar to arrive in our midst. Yet we are not meant to wait passively for its arrival; rather, we are asked to “prepare the way” for the beauty and glory that is to come. How do we engage in this form of “holy waiting” that invites us to both cultivate patience and take action? And why is this relevant today? In an era when multiple global crises are occurring simultaneously, it is paramount that we bear witness to the present state of affairs while also working to transform it from a place of loving groundedness. God needs our help in birthing a new reality, and Advent is arguably the most pertinent time to discern how we can help God in this task. Join Middle Church’s Advent Bible Study group as we engage with classic Advent scripture texts, relevant non-Biblical texts, and centering practices to help us discern how we are being called to prepare the way for the coming of a new world.
