What We Know About Worship Today: Due to the continued COVID threat in New York City, we are still only worshipping online. We will continually assess COVID risk levels, and communicate when we feel it’s safe to return to in-person/online hybrid worship. We are leaning into “HYBRID worship” as the name for worship that is both online and in person. Click here to read an op-ed by Senior Minister Rev. Worship will always be hybrid EXCEPT for an in-person pop-up Ash Wednesday (ashes and communion) at 12:00 p.m. ET on the front steps at 50 E 7th Street. Or, join us at Pray to Rise online at 8:00 a.m. ET to receive ashes in the morning. Over the coming months, we will be adding some physical elements to worship as we determine what is safe. And we hope by April to be able to worship regularly in our hybrid model. In the meantime, join the online celebration on the homepage here, or on our Facebook and YouTube accounts. Our liturgy and worship will feel familiar in form, but you will be surprised by creative sermons that will provoke your mind and stir your soul. You will also be surprised by the extensive use of the arts in worship. Our music—gospel, spirituals, stunning choral singing and classical music, and everything from Bach to Broadway to the Beatles—will encourage your toes to tap and your heart to soar. Our virtual sanctuary holds not only our incredible cultural and ethnic diversity, but dance, puppet theater, the dramatic and visual arts, and our diverse expressions of faith.
