Worship Celebration | January 9 | 11:45 a.m. ET
January 9 @ 11:45 am - 12:45 pm
Scripture: John 1:1-9
Sermon: “Into the Unknown” by Rev. Natalie Renee Perkins
Due to the rising threat of the COVID omicron variant in New York City, are worshipping online through the end of January. We will continually assess COVID threat levels, and communicate when we feel it’s safe to return to in-person/online hybrid worship. Love means keeping one another safe in this season, and as much as we long to offer the ability to worship together in the same room, we simply cannot do that while ensuring the wellbeing of those who gather. Click here to read a longer reflection by our Senior Minister Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis further explaining the rationale behind this decision. But what’s most important to know is that worship is not—and will never be—canceled. We will proclaim the fiercest love—born in our midst, and we will do it together as a family. Join the online celebration on the homepage here, or on our Facebook and YouTube accounts.
Our liturgy and worship will feel familiar in form, but you will be surprised by creative sermons that will provoke your mind and stir your soul. You will also be surprised by the extensive use of the arts in worship. Our music—gospel, spirituals, stunning choral singing and classical music, and everything from Bach to Broadway to the Beatles—will encourage your toes to tap and your heart to soar. Our virtual sanctuary holds not only our incredible cultural and ethnic diversity, but dance, puppet theater, the dramatic and visual arts, and our diverse expressions of faith.
