Worship Celebration | Easter Sunrise | 7 AM
April 9 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 am
Christ is risen! On Easter, we affirm that nothing can overcome God’s love. No hate or violence, no government or earthly power can change our ultimate destiny: to live as one human family in beloved community, sharing in abundance, nurtured by systems of mutual thriving. Or, to use theological terms, to birth the reign of God, right here, right now. Easter is a foretaste of the world as it should be, the fierce love we all deserve.
On Easter, we’re offering a few different ways to join the celebration! At 7:00 a.m. ET, Rev. Ben and Rev. Natalie will host a sunrise worship in Stuyvesant Park across the street from East End Temple (245 E 17th St.)—in the event of rain, we will worship inside the temple. Ben will offer a homily, we’ll share communion, and Natalie will guide us through a ritual to help us embody God’s promise for new life. Stay after the worship for food and fellowship!
At 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. ET, we’ll host a glorious celebration in East End Temple! Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis will preach, our gospel choir will sing, and together we will experience the fierce love promised in Jesus’ resurrection. Space is limited, so please make sure you arrive early to get a seat (and if you can join the 9:30 a.m. celebration, it will be less crowded).
The 11:45 a.m. worship will also be livestreamed! Join us on Facebook, YouTube or our homepage!
Plus, join Middle staff in-between worships for a family-friendly easter egg hunt! Infants through elementary school-aged children are invited from 10:45am-11:30am to take on the Easter Bunny’s mission to find all their missing eggs before the second worship occurs! Meet us over at the Peter Stuyvesant Park for fun & fellowship. We’ll also have juice boxes because we know hunting for eggs is hard work! Email Elise if you have any questions.
If you plan to come in-person at 9:30 or 11:45, you must wear a mask. Read more about our updated COVID policy.
