SUMMARY:Redemption Time Screening + Community Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, May 14th7:00 – 9:00 PMSanctuary\, Middle Church \nOn May 14\, 2026\, Middle Church in New York City will host a special screening of Redemption Time\, a 70-minute performance film featuring poet Jimmy Santiago Bacaand jazz violinist Christian Howes—artists whose lives were shaped by incarceration and who now give voice to stories of dignity\, struggle\, and renewal. \nDirected by David Gonzalez\, the film blends spoken-word poetry\, live jazz\, and cinematic storytelling into a powerful experience that traces journeys from trauma and incarceration toward healing\, belonging\, and personal freedom. \nThis event invites the community to reflect on themes that resonate far beyond the screen—belonging and isolation\, judgment and dignity\, harm and healing\, and the possibility of second chances. \nThe evening will include the film screening\, a panel discussion\, and a reception. \nPresented in partnership with Rehabilitation Through the Arts (https://rta-arts.org/)\, this screening also serves as a fundraiser supporting RTA’s work\, which uses the arts to help incarcerated individuals develop critical life skills and successfully reintegrate into society. \nAdmission is free with a suggested donation of $20.

SUMMARY:PA_SE: A Space for U
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\nSunday\, May 17th\, 202610am-11amHybrid/Studio on 3 \nIn a world where we are constantly striving to be seen\, to be heard\, to love\, and to belong\, it has become essential to PA_SE. As much as we are called to rise up\, make good trouble\, and fight for what matters\, it is just as necessary—if not more so—to PA_SE. PA_SE is a space for U to rest your mind\, re-energize your body\, and reconnect with your soul. It is an embodied meditative experience that weaves together stream-of-consciousness journaling with somatic practices designed to calm the nervous system and awaken the body’s energy centers. This process creates space for U to be seen and heard—by U. To meet yourself with unconditional love.To rediscover a sense of belonging within your own body. As the mind turns toward the body\, it begins to trust something deeper than itself. It softens. It unwinds. It releases its stories into the wisdom of the body. When you PA_SE\, you rise again—with a mind at ease\, a body renewed\, and the embodied knowing that what you fight for is already within U. \n  \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Praying Dangerously
DESCRIPTION:Join Rev. Natalie on Zoom for this powerful exploration and practice of prayer\, Tuesdays at 7:30 pm ET. We will read one chapter per week. Please come to the first meeting having read chapter 1. \nFrom Barnes & Noble: \nPraying Dangerously instructs us that we can grow up spiritually\, leaving behind a childish relationship to prayer as a superstitious ritual or mere plea for favors. It encourages readers to recognize the difference between prayer that asks only for reassurance\, and prayer that asks for the Ultimate\, and stands for transformation. “We can cease being ‘victims’ of God’s Will\, while at the same time embracing genuine surrender and reliance on the irrefutable power of love\,” says author and retreat leader Regina Sara Ryan. \nThe insecurities of our times draw us inward or back to our churches. In prayer groups and retreats of all kinds we are looking for comfort and consolation\, for spiritual direction\, or for answers to the eternal questions that have always challenged humanity. This book is a valued contribution in that search. This 10th anniversary edition is fully revised\, with several completely new chapters including: “The High Cost of Forgiveness”-a subject that challenges everyone-and “Praying on the Subway\,” about how our generally busy and often chaotic lives can provide us with a constant impetus for blessing others. \n  \nRegister here \n
