DESCRIPTION:A strong democracy depends on civic engagement and a commitment to pluralism. We come together every other week to learn\, discuss\, and share our individual perspectives on elections and political issues affecting our communities and nation. Importantly\, we use this group to take action. We register new voters and mobilize voters for every election. We encourage members to become poll workers and monitors\, and to take action on voting rights and other justice issues. We engage in nonpartisan postcard writing campaigns to encourage people to vote and remove any financial barrier so that all citizens can equally participate. Together\, we send thousands of cards and letters and amplify our impact. DESCRIPTION:Community dinners are through NNYCP (Newest New Yorkers Community Partnership) with East End Temple\, Middle Church\, and PS 361\, the Children’s Workshop School. The NNYCP has three components: Monthly dinners\, emergency grants\, and an accompaniment program. \nCommunity dinners are the inaugural component of NNYCP\, and are a beautiful time of fellowship\, relationship building\, resource and food sharing! Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of capacities including serving dinner\, displaying flowers and table settings\, playing with children\, setting up and cleaning up\, and other tasks that arise. DESCRIPTION:Revs. Jacqui Lewis & John Janka\, in partnership with the Freedom Rising Board\, launch our sixth cohort of young adult leaders. This lab is for those in their 20s & 30s interested in building collective power to engage anti-racism\, leadership development\, and liberation work. Learn from Jacqui\, John\, and a cadre of staffulty – as well as one another – about how you can move the world around you. \nThis cohort meets May-June\, September-December on the third Sunday of the month for two hours to dig into curriculum such as negotiating difference and conflict\, managing burnout\, understanding the dynamics of change and resistance\, culture and identity politics\, ethical and spiritual leadership in the digital and public square\, and so much more. \nWe ask for a modest confirmation fee of $50 to help cover expenses. DESCRIPTION:Doors Open at 5:00PM EST and the Show Begins at 5:30PM EST\n\nJoin The Mosaic Series for its 8th Annual Anniversary Concert\, a vibrant celebration of music\, interfaith holiday joy\, and artivism in support of Middle Rising\, the rebuilding campaign for Middle Church. Founded eight years ago by Matthew Johnson Harris in collaboration with Middle Church\, The Mosaic Project has produced 14 events\, including 3 virtual concerts\, featured over 100 Broadway performers\, and raised more than $100\,000 for various organizations. This year\, the concert will take place on Sunday\, December 15th\, at Judson Memorial Church\, and all proceeds will directly support Middle Church’s rebuilding efforts after the devastating fire of 2020.
