DESCRIPTION:Community dinners are through NNYCP (Newest New Yorkers Community Partnership) with East End Temple\, Middle Church\, and PS 361\, the Children’s Workshop School. The NNYCP has three components: Monthly dinners\, emergency grants\, and an accompaniment program. \nCommunity dinners are the inaugural component of NNYCP\, and are a beautiful time of fellowship\, relationship building\, resource and food sharing! Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of capacities including serving dinner\, displaying flowers and table settings\, playing with children\, setting up and cleaning up\, and other tasks that arise. DESCRIPTION:The Village Chorus for Children and Youth at Middle Church is a program that educates children about the significance of community engagement in promoting racial\, LGBTQIA+\, and economic equality through music. Participants learn a diverse repertoire\, including pieces from Beethoven\, the Beatles\, and Broadway\, which helps them build confidence and receive support from the congregation. The chorus performs monthly during worship services and has showcased their talents at venues like Joe’s Pub at The Public\, The Lower Eastside Girls Club\, and the New York Public Library. \nRehearsals are conducted via in-person on Sundays from 1:00 to 2:15 pm. \nWhile there is no cost to join\, children should have a passion for music\, a strong desire to learn\, and the ability to read. \nFor more information or to join\, interested individuals can contact the director\, John Del Cueto.

DESCRIPTION:On June 20th\, BLIS Collective is hosting “Reclamation Day: A Reunion ofHope“\, a large-scale\, immersive cultural gathering organized as a direct counter-commemoration of America‘s 250th. \nThis gathering will bring together 50+ artists\, organizers\, and cultural leaders. They will guide participants through three experiential zones: Reclaim\, Repair\, and Reimagine. Reclamation Day will be a self-guided experience featuring art installations\, documentaries\, live murals\, panels\, opening remarks from President Shannon Holsey (Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians)\, Rev. Soft bread\, applesauce\, mandarins\, etc. \nInclude our branded Middle Church and BOM stickers\, date and the basic ingredients of your sandwich (e.g.\, PB & J\, Turkey & Cheese\, Bagel & Cream Cheese) \n\n\nAdd notes of encouragement on or in each lunch bag: “You are loved” or “Have an awesome day.” \n\n\nSafety Protocols: Remember to wear disposable gloves while assembling lunches.  If you are feeling under the weather\, please do not participate until you’re well again. We also honor the buddy system when distributing in city parks. \nReimbursement: Middle will reimburse all volunteers for BOM purchases. DESCRIPTION:A strong democracy depends on civic engagement and a commitment to pluralism. We come together every other week to learn\, discuss\, and share our individual perspectives on elections and political issues affecting our communities and nation. Importantly\, we use this group to take action. We register new voters and mobilize voters for every election. We encourage members to become poll workers and monitors\, and to take action on voting rights and other justice issues. We engage in nonpartisan postcard writing campaigns to encourage people to vote and remove any financial barrier so that all citizens can equally participate. Together\, we send thousands of cards and letters and amplify our impact.
