Some see a connection to the story of The Tower of Babel Genesis 11: 1-8 NIV – The Tower of Babel – Now the whole – Bible Gateway

The events described in this reading place while the people of Isreal were celebrating Shavuot or The Feast of Weeks. This likely explains why there were so many people in Jerusalem. For more on Shavuot : Feasts: Shavuot — LIFE IN MESSIAH

John’s Gospel tells of the giving of the Holy Spirit here: John 20: 20-22 MSG – To Believe – Later on that day, the – Bible Gateway

Do you see any connection between Jesus breathing on them and telling them to Receive the Holy Spirit in John’s gospel and the creation story in Genesis 2 Genesis 2: 7 NIV – Then the LORD God formed a man from the – Bible Gateway

This is not the first instance of God showing up in fire, there was the burning bush Moses saw and the Israelites being led by a pillar of fire among others.

I have so many random thoughts and questions about this text, but I’ll leave that for tomorrow depending on how the conversation goes.
