Middle Church has made a long-term commitment to advocate and support the ongoing relief efforts for the people of Puerto Rico. From July 1-6, a Middle Church Youth team comprised of students ranging in age from 12 to 16 years old join hands-on service projects in the Miraflores area in Puerto Rico, largely focused on agriculture as this community continues their own rebuilding and resiliency efforts post-hurricane. Youth will learn about the indigenous, colonial, and African roots of Puerto Rico by visiting cultural heritage sites throughout the island. They will be encouraged to ask hard questions and think critically, focusing on economic and racial justice as well as creation care.

Follow our #MiddleChurchYouth as they document their experiences on social media. Please follow along on Instagram (@middlechurch) and Facebook (Middle Collegiate Church) for updates during the trip.

The youth team fundraised through in-person asks and online platforms, raising over $10,000 for this Service-Learning Trip. Thank you to everyone who chose to invest in this movement of transformative love and justice.
