Tuesday, May 21 at noon, Middle Collegiate Church was apart of the national #StoptheBans Day of Action. NARAL Pro-Choice America put out a call for public spaces to host gatherings for people to speak out and fight back against the unconstitutional attempt to gut Roe and punish women.

The Resistance Revival Chorus performed on the steps of Middle Collegiate Church and the rally included numerous speakers including: Natalie Perkins, Middle Church digital minister; Abigail Disney, philanthropist; Lizz Winstead, Lady Parts Justice; Dr. Yvonne McLean, service provider; Kaitlyn Marchesano, New York Abortion Access Fund; Deacon Dennis Barton, Middle Church; Lauren Rankin, a clinic escort; and Rev. Amanda Hambrick Ashcraft, executive minister at Middle Church. The rally was emceed by Viva Ruiz, a Middle Church member and founder of Thank God for Abortion. The rally drew a crowd of more than 300 people rising up and speaking out for reproductive rights.

The Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, senior minister of Middle Church said, "As a woman of faith, I believe deeply that reproductive rights are, like all health care, human rights. All women, cisgender and transgender, and everyone who has a womb that can give life MUST have the freedom to make a legal choice about their pregnancy, their body, their lives. I love babies, I love children, AND I'm pro-choice. We must fight for choice and reproductive freedom."
