Hey, Middle! Happy New Year!
I’ve never been one for resolutions. Admittedly, I’ve always been very bad at keeping to the resolutions I make. In the last few years I’ve loved seeing everyone make their “ins” and “outs” lists. If you aren’t familiar with this concept, instead of making a resolution, lots of people have been making lists of things they want to leave behind in the previous year and lists of things they want to bring into or do more in the new year. This year, I decided to make my own in’s and out’s list.

Here it is:
Outs:
- Doomscrolling past my bedtime
- Buying books I never end up reading
- Perfectionism in my hobbies
- Doordash/UberEats
- People who make me feel small
- Retail therapy
- Overcommitting and sacrificing my mental health
- Being bogged down by hate
Ins:
- Early bedtimes and tea in bed
- Placing holds on books at the library
- Trying new hobbies, even if I don’t think I will be “good” at them (ask me about my latest collage…)
- Trying local restaurants and tipping really well (when I’m able!)
- Feeding my friendships with people who are dreaming big
- Actual therapy and self-care (journaling, making art, eating a healthy meal)
- Resting and not feeling guilty about it!
- Being lifted up by revolutionary LOVE
What would you add to this list?
