Racism is a much more clandestine, much more hidden kind of phenomenon, but at the same time it’s perhaps far more terrible than it’s ever been. —Angela Davis
Race Matters: February 10 (2 of 3 sessions)
One of the strongest lines in our vision statement is this: We aim to heal the soul and the world by dismantling racist, classist, sexist, and homophobic systems of oppression.
This is an ambitious calling. And we need leaders prepared to address racism if we are going to lead the way. So this February, leaders—artists, teachers, mentors, activists, consistory members, team leaders, young adults and seniors—are invited to attend Leadership Lab: Race Matters.
Faculty include Jacqui Lewis, John Janka, Amanda Hambrick Ashcraft, and Bertram Johnson. This is Part 2 of the series, and, as a starting place, will share the ways 21st-century leadership must be informed by the structural and systemic racism that is the legacy of chattel slavery in these United States.
Please note: The one time $15 participant fee covers the cost of all three sessions, as well as a book and supplies provided. The three sessions are: February 3, February 10. and February 24, from 1:30-4:30 pm.
