Weddings, Baptisms, and Funerals

Middle Church preaches a message of Love. Period. It is a message that inspires people across the street and around the world. Since 1628, people from all walks of life have found their home in our community of faith.

Weddings

Do you want to get married? We want to marry you. Gay, Straight, Bi, Trans, Intersex, Queer, Assexual, +… Love is love. And your love is an expression of the divine.

Baptisms

In a community as diverse as ours, we think of baptism as meaning different kinds of things. Some of us come from traditions where we understand that we have borrowed baptism from our Jewish family, a Mikveh, like most ancient religions to set us right and clean us up. For some of us it means dying to an old way of life and rising to a new life. For some of us, baptism means fresh starts and belonging to a community of accountability where we are asked to be our best self, even as we know God loves us just as we are.

Funerals & Memorials

When our loved ones leave this life, we experience sorrow at their loss, and also celebrate the life they lived. Our faith teaches that death is not the end. At Middle Church our ministers and staff will accompany you in making arrangements to honor the life and memory of your loved ones.

If you need support managing your feelings and emotions following the death of a loved one or if you would like to make funeral or memorial arrangements, please contact Ellen Matlach via e-mail or by phone at 212-477-0666 ext. 312.
