We Are Family: Filled with the Spirit — Exhibit Opening

We Are Family: Filled with the Spirit is a photography exhibit and symposium celebrating Trans Awareness and Native American Heritage Month. Opening November 12, 2026 at Middle Church, 50 East 7th Street, NYC 10003, and on view through the end of the month.

The month of November is both Trans Awareness Month and Native American Heritage Month. Middle Church will celebrate this month with a photography show that presents the many LGBTQ2S+ expressions of both cultures.

Photo essays include portraits of Middle Church’s Trans-Gender Families, New York City’s Drag Marches, Mexico’s Maya and Chunta Festivals, Montana’s Indigenous Two Spirit communities, and stories from the gender fluid worlds of artists and musicians.

There will be an opening reception and party on Thursday, November 12th, 6–8 PM, and a Symposium on Sunday, November 15th, 2–5 PM (speakers and presenters to be announced).

We Are Family: Filled with the Spirit is the work of professional and student photographers, trans, queer and indigenous people, anthropologists and theologians.
