Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir

The Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir moves movements, bodies, and souls.

In addition to levitating the roof during Sunday morning celebrations, the choir sings at rallies and protests for LGBTQ, racial, gender, and economic equality, and by special invitation. The organizers of the annual NYC Pride March awarded the choir 2016 Best Float Performance. Our gospel choir has sung in the Pride March for more than 20 years and has been featured on the TODAY show, at Carnegie Hall, and at New York's Public Theater. Rooted in gospel music, their repertoire includes a wide range of musical genres. Founded in 1986 by the late Jerriese Johnson, an East Village actor and singer, the choir is directed by John Del Cueto.

The gospel choir meets on Zoom every Thursday evening for rehearsal. For information or to join, contact John Del Cueto for more information.
