Holy Saturday is a chance to sit in the liminal space between the cross and empty tomb, to hold the enormity of grief and refuse to look away. Like Mary Magdalene, we come with trembling boldness toward the resurrection, still proclaiming a love that can set us free.

Perkins serves as minister for worship and online community at Middle Collegiate Church and as a chaplain for New York University and is the author of In Trembling Boldness: Wisdom for Today from Ancient Jesus People. Dr. Lewis is Senior Minister at Middle Church, author of Fierce Love, and a prophetic public theologian who has written, preached and worked for decades to reclaim Christianity.
