On June 20th, BLIS Collective is hosting “Reclamation Day: A Reunion ofHope“, a large-scale, immersive cultural gathering organized as a direct counter-commemoration of America‘s 250th.
This gathering will bring together 50+ artists, organizers, and cultural leaders. They will guide participants through three experiential zones: Reclaim, Repair, and Reimagine. Reclamation Day will be a self-guided experience featuring art installations, documentaries, live murals, panels, opening remarks from President Shannon Holsey (Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians), Rev. Jacqui Lewis, and Nkechi Taifa, as well as a closing performance featuring Mato Wayuhi and Brooklyn’s own, rap superstar, Joey Bada$$.
Reclamation Day is our experiment in how art and culture can shift public memory, deepen solidarity, and move people from reflection into participation.
